A good start, but a long ways to go. I can hear all those pro-GOP folks now…they are saying that same things that pro-Dems did back in 2010. “This doesn’t mean anything.” “The real election is the next one.” Blah, blah, blah. It’s all so incredibly predictable, catty, unintelligent and, ultimately, unimportant to the American people.
More and more people are wising up to the “strategies” of our elected officials...and they are justifiably appalled. Parties and polls don’t matter. For all the barking that comes from one side of the aisle or the other, the people who have the most influence tend to be open-minded and skeptical (or ‘realistic’) about either party. Rightfully so. Divisive and non-productive tactics simply will not be tolerated any longer.
Right now, we’re seeing some obvious backlash towards our Constitution and our agreed upon social contracts. This is absolutely unacceptable to the vast majority of Americans, regardless of what you hear/see in our “media.” Historically, when we have been treated unfairly, we have risen up and changed for the better. This time will only be slightly different, due to the fact that we’ve done it far more quickly and decisively than before. I know it may not seem like it, but it’s true.
Of course, what do I know? I’m an eternal optimist and you don’t see too many of me out there in the political landscape...for now. 🙂
