Why don’t they just make the NFL two-hand touch? What a crock. Harrison is an amazing player…and I hate the Steelers. Between these fines for “dangerous tackles” and quarterbacks being treated like they are fine china, I’ve about had it.
Listen, it’s a dangerous game. EVERY player understands that. Players get paralyzed, permanently injured, suffer concussions and, often, are never the same. It’s brutal; yet, amazing, all at the same time. Trust me, they are aware of the potential dangers every snap.
Another point: If you play with a fear of “hitting too hard,” you will undoubtably get “hit too hard” yourself.
What the NFL doesn’t realize is that, by implementing these fines, they just may be putting their players at more risk. Players need to focus intensely while they are playing. If they are worrying about how hard they are going to hit someone, it’s going to end up hurting everyone.
Stop making players concerned with how hard they are hitting. Cheap shots? Of course those deserve fines. However, I would argue that “cheap shots” happen EVERY SINGLE PLAY in the NFL. Ever see what actually goes on between linemen every snap? Exactly.
